Toronto The Great Captures International Recognition Again!

It is a double win for Toronto again, with our city gaining international recognition in two different lifestyle aspects. First, our cherished SickKids hospital was named the BEST in the world for the second year in a row! Newsweek and Statista published the “World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2027” based on votes from experts across the globe. SickKids was chosen from 250 pediatric hospitals as the finest. In addition to coming first for the second year in a row, this marks the ninth consecutive year SickKids has ranked among the world’s top two and the third time it has earned the top ranking. The hospital’s excellence is a tribute to the staff, trainees, volunteers, donors and community members who contribute to making the hospital’s work possible.

Recently, the University of Toronto made headlines being named among the world’s top 25 universities by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy. The “2026 Academic Ranking of World Universities” was released on Aug. 15. Among public universities, U of T placed sixth in North America; 13^th worldwide and was named the top-ranked Canadian institution in that ranking. This marks the ninth consecutive year that U of T has been included in the world’s top 25 universities in this much-anticipated annual ranking. The university is a global leader in both education and research, displaying amazing creativity, ambition and dedication of its faculty, students and alumni. Since more than 2,500 institutions were evaluated for this ranking, this is high praise indeed!
